A Heritage Dinner

Willie Mae's Table

Prentiss, Mississippi. Served in your home.

Willie Mae White grew up in Prentiss, Mississippi. She cooked for her family the way people cooked then: from memory, from what was available, from a set of techniques passed down without being written down. Her table was where the family gathered, and the food was the reason everyone stayed.

Willie Mae's Table is a multi-course seated dinner built from those recipes. Chef Kobie Baker is her grandson. He has spent his career in professional kitchens, but this dinner is different from anything else he cooks. These are not interpretations or updates. They are the dishes as he learned them, served in the order they were meant to be served, in your home.

The dinner seats four to eight guests. It is cooked in your kitchen, plated and served at your table, and cleaned up before the evening ends. Printed menu cards go at every seat. You stay with your guests from the first course to the last.

The occasions it suits

Some dinners carry more weight than others. Willie Mae's Table is designed for the ones that do.

Juneteenth gatherings where the food is part of the meaning. Mother's Day for a mother or grandmother who deserves a meal that honors where the family comes from. Graduations, homecomings, and reunions where the people at the table share a history and the food should reflect it.

It also works for smaller occasions: a birthday for someone who grew up eating this food, a dinner for family visiting from out of town, or an evening for guests who have never sat down to a meal like this and should.
